What is Holistic Nanny .com?
HolisticNanny.com is a do-it-yourself nanny/family service website designed to help enable connection between nannies seeking employment by providing holistic childcare to parents and parents seeking a nanny to care for their family and home. You must become a member in order to use the services that HolisticNanny.com has to offer. As a member, you will have access to the contact information of other members and to any member only areas that are currently developed, but only during your membership term. Why is it important to find a nanny who shares my holistic values?
We feel that the single largest factor contributing to a child's growth and development is the environment in which they are raised. As most parents quickly discover, children appear to learn most not from what we present to them in the form of games, books or toys, but from what we ourselves practice. Children watch us, mimic us and model our behaviors. This is what, we feel, makes it so important to find a nanny who not only provides quality care, but exemplifies virtues consistent with what we want to see our children learning from.
What does "holistic" mean?
Holistic is a surprisingly hard term to comprehensively define. This is because its very nature makes it inclusive of a wide array of beliefs. Underlying the many different belief systems, there is a belief in "wholeness". This includes both external factors such as our connection to families, friends, cultural groups, communities, and the earth itself as well is the internal connections of our body, mind and spirit. In raising our children holistically, we strive to understand, nurture and provide for growth and development of the whole child: emotionally, physically, creatively, mentally and spiritually.
Is there a set of beliefs that being holistic implies?
Families and individuals who identify themselves as holistic are neither liberal or conservative, they are not one religion or another, nor do they possess a strict set of ideologies held by all. They may feel strongly about healthy eating and lifestyle, tolerance, attachment parenting, environmentalism, vaccinations and a host of related topics, but they by no means are obliged to share the same beliefs on these topics. For example, some holistic parents may strongly oppose vaccination while others strongly support it. What they likely hold in common, though, is that they took the time to educate themselves on the topic so that they could make a well considered, informed decision, rather than just following the societal norms without really understanding the issues. Perhaps the one common belief held by holistic parents is that one should be educated about the choices they are presented with when forming a belief or opinion.
What is share care?
Share care involves two families sharing one nanny. The families benefit because they can share the cost of a nanny (which tends to be the most expensive form of childcare) therefore allowing them to receive high quality care for their children and a nanny may benefit by receiving higher pay and better benefits because two families will be the foundation for these. What are your Membership Fees and length of memberships?
For Families:
Currently, you may become a member for 30 days (see membership details) of this website at no cost, unless you choose to upgrade your membership for a small membership fee.
For Nannies:
Currently, you may become a member for 30 days (see membership details) of this website at no cost.
What is the "Membership Hold" option? How do I use it?
The "Membership Hold" option is only for families who have opted to pay for a 90 day membership. After hiring a nanny, you should place your account on "hold" via your "My Profile" page. If on the chance, the nanny doesn't work out, then you have the option to reactivate your account for the remainder of days left in your membership to resume your search. You have up to 6 months to reactivate your account, after that your account will be considered expired. For example, if you were to hire a nanny 20 days into your membership, use your "hold" option, and then 10 days later your nanny moved on; the "hold" on your account could be released and you would have 70 more days to use the service at HolisticNanny.com.
How will I know if my membership is going to expire?
We will send you an e-mail 14 days prior to the end of you membership with a link that will quickly allow you to continue your membership. Families will be asked to pay another membership fee and Nannies will continue to be free. See Terms of Use for further details.
What will you do with my personal information?
We highly respect your personal information and commit to protecting it as much as we can. We want to assure you that we do not share or sell any of the personal information you provide to us. Because the nature of this site allows families and nannies to exchange contact info, though, we encourage anyone concerned about their privacy to consider setting up a dedicated email account to use as their HolisticNanny.com contact email. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and many other online services provide free email accounts that can be used.
Am I guaranteed to find a nanny for my family or a nanny position?
As much as we would like to guarantee your success by using our site. We can not. This site is only designed as a tool for finding a wonderful nanny for you family or a comfortable position with a compatible family. We wish you the best in your search.
How long will it take to approve my membership application and how will I know if I am approved? Why can't my account be approved immediately?
We will need 1-2 business days to approve your membership, thank you for your patience in advance. While we'd love to be able to approve your account immediately, we take the extra time to review the profiles individually in order to eliminate spam. We will be sending you a welcome email with your sign-in information to the email address you gave to us at the time of your registration. We look forward to having you as a member.
What if I forget my password?
That's easy just click on the "Forgot Your Password" option in the Sign-In box, follow the prompts and we'll help you out.
